Specialized Diagnostic Tools

Extensive In House Laboratory

Our well equipped in house laboratory, allows our team to run a wide variety of diagnostic tests right in house while you wait. By performing lab work in house, the time associated with sending samples to an outside lab is cut out. These available diagnostics test for diseases such as: Pancreatitis, FPL (feline pancreatic lipase), CPL (canine pancreatic lipase), Parvo Virus (parvo antigen), Canine tick born disease ( Borellia Burgorfer (Lyme), Ehrlichia canis, Anaplasma), Feline associated virus (FIV, FeLV), Giardia (giardia antigen), Heartworm Antigen. Our in house Lab can also perform: Blood clotting times, Pt/aPTT (Prothrombin time, Activated partial thromboplastin time), Complete Blood Chemistries, CBC (complete blood count), T-4 (thyroid), CCrP (C-Reactive Protien), SAA (Serum Amyloid A), Fructosamine, Blood Gas (PH,pCO2,pO2,Hct,Na+,K+,Ca+,Cl-,Glu,Lac,Crea), Dermatophyte test medium (fungal medium- ringworm), PCV(packed cell volume), TP(total Protein), Blood films with RBC morphology and WBC differential, Ear Cytologies, Skin Scrapes, Urinalysis with microscopic evaluation, and Fecal exams.

Computed Tomography (CT)

Our 8 slice, 25cm field of view CT Scanner allows our doctors to see much more detail than any x-ray would allow. This imaging level allows doctors to see specific disc herniations, brain hemorrhage, trauma to the head, chest, or abdomen. A CT Scan is also an excellent planning tool for assisting the surgeon in removing masses and performing fracture repairs.

Endoscopy

A tiny camera is threaded throughout the body for a non- surgical approach to remove foreign bodies, foxtails or to obtain a biopsy sample.

Laparoscopy

Using the endoscope with special attachments, allows for minimally invasive surgeries. Some of these surgeries include: gallbladder removal, stone removal, or spay. Benefits of this procedure include: decreased risk of bleeding, decreased time of healing and decreased time on pain medications.

Rhinoscopy

Using the endoscope with a special rigid rhinoscope attachment, allows the doctor to feed a camera into the nasal passages. This can aid in detection of growths or foreign bodies that may be present. Rhinoscopy also aids in obtaining biopsies from these difficult to visualize areas.

Ultrasound

This tool helps our doctors see abnormalities such as masses, cardiac dysfunction, and abnormal fluid accumulation. Ultrasound can also assist doctors in visualizing complicated procedures such as biopsies, fluid removal or obtaining urine from the bladder.

Digital Radiography

Every radiograph we take can instantly be viewed and shared throughout our network. We also have the ability to send out these radiographs for further analysis with radiology specialists at Antech. Our Facility is also able to perform Myelograms and other contrast media assisted radiography.
