X-ray (digital radiography) is a core diagnostic imaging tool in our hospital. It is used to look at bones, the chest, and the abdomen when a veterinarian needs a fast, in-house picture of what is going on. X-rays do not replace a physical exam. Call (661) 729-1500 to inquire; the team will explain whether imaging is recommended and what to expect.
Veterinarians commonly use radiographs to evaluate lameness or suspected fractures, coughing or breathing changes, vomiting or abdominal pain, bladder stones, and to plan or follow surgery. Dental X-rays, when part of a dental procedure, look below the gumline.
Your pet is positioned for the views the veterinarian needs. Images are reviewed in hospital. The veterinarian will discuss findings and next steps, which may include rest, medication, ultrasound, CT, or other care. MRI Coming Soon is a separate, upcoming diagnostic and is not used in place of X-ray today.
